Myanmar, a member country of ASEAN, once called Burma, is one of the largest countries in Southeast Asia Peninsula and it is bordered with Bangladesh, India, China, Laos and Thailand. Although Myanmar is located between two great civilizations, India and China, it has developed its own culture with distinctive characteristics. The uniqueness of Myanmar culture is that it is free from racial or sex discrimination from child birth throughout the life time. There are over 100 national races in Myanmar and the Bamar are the majority group and the other main groups are Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Rakhine and Shan. Each national race group has its own culture and tradition.

Myanmar is often referred to as the Land of Pagodas. One of the major attractions for tourists is countless numbers of pagodas and monasteries, some dating back to thousands of years, that can be found all over the country side. These structures are a source of religion as well as a showcase of Myanmar art, culture and architecture. The glittering Shwedagon Pagoda, which was originally built over two thousand and five hundred years ago located in Yangon, to consider as one of the wondrous sights in the world.

Myanmar also offers a variety of unique attractions and tourist destinations. It is a land of great natural beauty and diversity with snow-capped mountains in the far north, the gentle slopes of Shan Plateau, beautiful Inle Lake, home of the unique leg rowers and long-necked Padaung Ladies wearing bass rings.
