Following the success of its inaugural edition last year, the Jakarta Marathon, - the biggest running event in Indonesia - will again turn the streets of the capital city of Jakarta into a colossal race track for thousands of runners on 26th October 2014.
Fully supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Jakarta Marathon is aimed to establish Jakarta as a world class tourist destination, especially in the field of Sport Tourism. Adding to the magnetic draw of the event, the city of Jakarta has set aside a total prize of IDR 2.4billion for the winners.
This year, the Jakarta Marathon targets a larger number of participants, increasing from last year’s 10,000 runners to 15,000 runners. From the targeted 15,000 runners, 4,000 have already registered, including 500 runners from 31 countries such as Japan, England, France, Australia, Kenya, and Singapore. Public announcements to clear major streets and areas along the route of the marathon will also be made prior to the event. The public will be urged not to gather at Monas to watch the actions, but they can simply watch at designated points along the route.
Building the hype ahead of the Jakarta Marathon 2014, the Sport Running Expo will take place at the Jakarta Convention Center from 23rd to 25th October 2014. The sport exhibition will feature all necessary gear and accessories perfect for running events such as shoes, jerseys, hats, watches, and more. There will also be social activites for blood donation to the Indonesia’s Red Cross (PMI) by Indokasih.com
