Gawai Dayak Week is an annual festival celebrated by the Dayak people around Kalimantan, a festival that is both a spiritual and a social occasion acknowledged since the 1950s. Gawai Dayak originates from the word Gawai (festival) and Dayak, a shared name for native people around Kalimantan consisting of four million people in total.
This is a day which pays tribute to the services of the land, air and navy forces. The celebration includes parachute shows and exhibitions, battle demonstrations, military parades and artillery displays.
